DO INDULGE IN SOCIAL MEDIA
Yes, it can be a time suck, but you get that time back in the form of a longer life. A recent UC San Diego study found that those who used Facebook had a lower mortality rate than abstainers. Strong social ties in real life have been shown to improve health, and connecting on social media tends to lead to offline socializing, says researcher William Hobbs. “Even just staying in touch online-posting on others’ walls and sending messages-was related to better health.” The key is to really interact, he says, since simply liking others’ posts or having one’s post liked was not linked to better health.
